Once upon a time, someone told me that if I wanted to be a rebel I had to make sure I had some real good causes. And, to have a reason to go against the grain or I’d be just joining the herd.
Sometimes, I took the advice and sometimes I didn’t! As a Spoken Word artist, I wrote a lot of rebellious pieces and performed them with an aggressive style. It didn’t win me votes and I didn’t sell more books.
But…I learned the art of writing and expressing what was burning in my soul and what I needed to expose. One of my lessons in the art of How To Be a Rebel Writer.

-If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun – Katherine Hepburn

It takes courage to Step Up & Stand Out with your words, whether it is on video, stage or page. Censorship exists big time. Your words are twisted and distorted by the media with a tap of 10 fingers. Have you noticed how your videos disappear overnight and your social media accounts vanish into the wind? Stepping out of line, speaking up and standing out has created big business for many a therapist.

-I would rather be a rebel than a slave – Emmeline Pankhurst

But when you write a book, when you put your version of life, your expertise down on paper – no one can take that away from you. The book is always ready to be opened, by anybody.
Your book can take a reader on an experience that inspires, acquires knowledge – gets satisfaction and a feeling they have learned and gained something valuable.
Having the confidence to start writing about what you really want to write about and then having the courage to finish it – takes determination and focus.
It also means giving your best, sharing your expertise in an accessible and generous way.

-Life is too short to be comfortable – Georgia Varjas

Do you feel that your voice is not being heard? Perhaps that your opinion is ignored or that no one seems to be listening to you?  Then I tell you  – it is time to write your book!
I have written 4 books, 2 of fiction and 2 of non fiction. And as some of you know, I have more than 200 blogs. Also contributions to a handful of anthologies. So, I know that Roller Coaster Book Ride Journey – first hand and recent.
I know what it is like not to be heard, understood or believed. It was one of my big reasons to write!
Here are 3 things to keep in your mind and to bring out the best in you.

  • Value who you are and what you have to say.
  • Do the writing. Get the job done. Just Write!
  • Be a Rebel Writer – and say it like it is.
