I have been asking this question many times in the last few years. Have you ever thought about writing a book?
I am always keen to listen and understand the answers.
What is it we tell ourselves about our abilities and potentials? And, how smart we are are at not recognising our own natural talents and expertise.
As a book writing coach, I have heard some extraordinary reasons, excuses and tall tales!
Here are the 3 most common answers I hear to the question: Have you ever thought about writing a book?
- What will I write about? I mean I have had some experiences, and I have stories to tell but that would be an autobiography and who wants to know about me?
- I started writing and then stopped, because I had 4 children, a job, and then life took over and my priorities changed.
- Who will buy my book? There are so many books out there on the same topic.
I am sure some of you have spoken or thought your own variation on these top 3.
The mind that opens to a new idea never returns to its original size – Albert Einstein
One of the most powerful ways to express your original twist on life is through writing. There is nothing like holding your own book in your hand. The satisfaction of releasing your experience, knowledge and wisdom out into the world is tremendous. It is a super smart way to show and share your authority and expertise. It is a reputation builder.
Books have a way of travelling around, inspiring and influencing readers.
So, have you written your book?
Are you still dreaming about it?
Perhaps, even planning how you will do it?
